Someone once said that Jennifer seemed like a “boy” mom. By destiny or happenstance, she ended up as the mom to two boys. These little redheaded balls of energy keep her on her toes and well-versed in the art of ninja moves and fort building.
Living in Northern California, Jennifer runs a busy household while working full time. As an Early Childhood Education consultant and owner of her own sleep consulting business, Jennifer should have parenting down to an art. But like most beautiful things, the closer you look, the more imperfect they seem. Owning her flaws, Jennifer thrives off of making imperfect parenting work.
You could start back in the mid to late 70’s in the small town of San Jose California or maybe jump ahead to his years in commercial radio doing afternoon drive on a country station. Fact is, Mikes’ had an interesting road to parenthood.
It started in 1997 when he met a girl (aka. Pookie) while attending California State University Chico. In 1999, Mike lost his mom suddenly to cancer. While the loss turned a page in his life, the relationship with “Pookie” continued to blossom and they were married in 2002.
A few years passed and the two decided to start a family. That proved not to be as easy as they thought. After multiple miscarriages, they were blessed with their first child in March 2007 with their second to come soon after in October of 2008.
When all is said and done, Mike believes there is nothing more amazing than welcoming a child into the world. While he’s no self-proclaimed expert in parenthood, he tries damn hard.
Yes, his name is Pedro. Really.
Pedro is a full-time stay-at-home dad with two awesome, and at times, awesomely frustrating boys. He loves being at home with the kids despite all the common misconceptions about dads and their hatred of all things domestic. He works on occasion as a paramedic or as a consultant teaching paramedic skills (which also comes in handy given he has two boys). Parenthood generates many surprising situations and insights that he hopes to share.
He makes no pretenses about being the perfect parent, and is just doing his best to raise two well-adjusted, if slightly goofy boys that will one day be contributing members of society. And hopefully take care of him someday too….
